COMMENTS

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string for spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to check for a profile image. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy. Approved comment profile pictures are visible publicly.

MEDIA

If you upload images to the site, avoid images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can extract location data from any image hosted on the site.

COOKIES

Leaving a comment allows you to opt into saving your name, email, and website in cookies for one year. A temporary cookie is set on login page visits to test browser cookie support — it contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. Login cookies persist for two days. Screen options cookies persist for one year. “Remember Me” extends login persistence to two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies. Publishing or editing an article sets a temporary cookie containing only the post ID, which expires after one day.

EMBEDDED CONTENT

Pages on this site may include embedded content from external sources. Embedded content behaves identically to visiting that external site directly. Those sites may collect data, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor interaction with their content.

DATA SHARING

Password reset requests include your IP address in the reset email. We do not share personal data with third parties beyond what is required for order fulfillment and site operation.

RETENTION

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely for moderation continuity. Registered users may view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time from their account page, except for username. Administrators retain access to and editability of all user information.
